Apple delivered it with Mojave 10.14.6 curiously rather than Catalina (fine by me!). Dolphin can not be closed without crashing, but because of that crash, it loses all preference settings, and in fact even asks the initial pop up question on each launch.I presumed it may have been a problem with a 5 year old computer full of junk and games/steam etc, and Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6.I completely uninstalled dolphin and did a fresh install of 5.0, and all is fine again on that machine! (except the latest versions are just better when they work and I'd love to be able to use them).I really never thought about it again because I was sure it was my computer.Well today, arrived my brand new MacBook Pro 15" after saving for it for precisely 18 months. My schedule was to run the update checker once a week and install whatever the latest was.Eventually, one of the updates broke it. The best thing you can do for Dolphin on macs is to use bootcamp, sadly.I don't own any wii games, so Dolphin for me is exclusively for gamecube. Apple is actively hostile to us at this point. And Catalina is NOT helping matters! So um yea, the situation on macOS isn't a high priority for us. The most obvious question would be, how many cores are you dealing with and do you have discrete graphics? If those are omitted as the cause, then it becomes a lot more complicated. And it was always so straight forward to me. And to think I used to use only windows when I started music production, from windows 95, then 98, then ME, then XP, then 7. I have been playing with windows 10 all day on a fresh bootcamp install and it is really doing my head in. I suppose it might be worth buying a few wii games to try the remote and stuff out on bootcamp in the future.I *really* hate using windows where I can avoid it. I have ReDream on mac to play all my dreamcast games, and that works 100% flawlessly, all the way to 4K now on the current MacBook, at rock solid FPS. Mac os 8 emulator online yaromateI couldn't get any builds of dolphin 5 to werk at all on this system under macOS at all. VERY recently (within the last week or so), i thought "gee, it'd be neato to play a gamecube game or maybe even a wii game!" so i popped over here and grabbed the last build of dolphin 5 that was up at the time.had severe issues with it, downloaded the previous version, lather, rinse, repeat. I've got a late 2012 mac mini, running the latest version of mojave. Won't reveal the game publicly but it's a popular one, and it's very difficult on the eyes (on purpose). One that relies on OpenGL to run. Not even a force-quit was viable - i managed to get the force-quit dialogue box up once or twice in attempts to run any version of 5 but it would hang and i couldn't interact with it.As an aside, i had problems running a very prominent indie game in the last couple of years on this system. I haven't tried any version of 3 or 4 since trying 5 out, which i may do in a bit just to see if those will werk, but 5 is completely nonfunctional for me and crashes the OS pretty badly. Almost all the versions i tried to run completely hung mojave's user interface, and i had to give the system a double index-finger salute (forced powerdown and power back up). I'd have to check a backup to see which one it might've been.I couldn't for the life of me get any version of 5 to run under mojave without the emulator completely dying and taking the entire operating system down with it on this system. I'm not a programmer.I'm bummed too, since i'd love to not have to reboot to win7 to play Wii/GC games.Fingers crossed that the devs who handle the macOS builds will find a solution. I suspect apple doesn't care about fixing any OpenGL problems they may have introduced because they want everyone to move to metal (which is a typical move for them whenever they have some new coding infrastructure that they're pushing).Maybe this OpenGL problem is hanging up dolphin too? dunno. I contacted this developer since he is a one-man operation, gave him some crashlogs, and he determined by looking at 'em that the implementation of OpenGL 4 on macOS was now broken and he couldn't fix his game to werk around it.
